Nazi-Era Art Inquiries

Nazi-Era Provenance questions should be directed to the Associate Director, Ann M. Knoll, at aknoll@nd.edu; or call (574) 631–4842.

As a member of both the American Association of Museums (AAM) and the Association of Art Museum Directors, the Raclin Murphy Museum of Art is reviewing its art collection files and will continue to add any objects in question to the Nazi-Era Provenance Internet Portal, the site designed and managed by the AAM on behalf of the national museum community.

The Portal provides a searchable registry of objects in museum collections that were created before 1946 and changed hands in Continental Europe during the Nazi era (1933–1945). People seeking objects can use the Portal to refine their search. For each registered object, the Portal provides an image of the work and basic descriptive information along with links to additional information provided by the participating museum.
