Artist Terry Evans is known for her photography of different landscapes, particularly those centered on the prairies, people, and artifacts of the Midwest. A native of the Midwest, Evans was born in Kansas City, Missouri. She later lived in Salina, Kansas before moving to Chicago early in the 1990s.

This traveling exhibition, Heartland: The Photographs of Terry Evans, is her first retrospective, and displays 66 photographs selected from her 30+-year-career. Evans' images invite the viewer to explore a beautiful, intricate, and often overlooked landscape. Her work is engaging, empathetic, and evokes a sense of curiosity.

This exhibition has been organized by The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

The Snite Museum of Art presentation has been made possible by funds provided by the Humana Foundation Endowment for American Art.
